The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena is a psychological thriller about a couple and the kidnapping of their infant daughter. It deals with the guilt and the emotional rollercoaster they both experience in their interactions with her parents, the couple next door, and the police detective who suspects that they are responsible for the disappearance of the child. The novel has multiple unexpected twists, everyone has a secret agenda, and the ending leaves you stunned. A great novel. I look forward to Shari’s next one.
